It’s been a while

30 Aug

Since I’ve blogged- I know.  Womp, womp.

015

But life has been good!!  Hi Lisa!!

How are things with you guys?? I’d love to know.  We have had a earthquake- one in which for the 20 seconds it lasted I thought I was going to loose my life, and a hurricane- which I pretty much stayed inside and watched bad tv all day and night.

013Thanks to the higher powers of the universe, I didn’t loose power or water! But I did spend a bunch of money like all the other crazy people in a panic at the grocery store…and the wine store.  Hehehe.  I’ve been working and feeling the surges  of busyness coming on as summer comes to and end.  I am actually sitting amidst a bunch of calendars and to-do lists right now, but things are getting checked off and like I said:

Life is GOOD~ Meow

Life is GOOD!  Meowwww!

Over the last week I’ve met with these guys:

001 Ryan D.

and

003 Ryan R. (Ladies, I know he’s eye candy so don’t even start!)

They’re my guys from Inside Lacrosse Magazine!  Both named Ryan and they’re roommates!

Did you see my article??

lacrosse

So exciting!!  I met with Ryan R again to get some pics taken for their website!  Love him to death and I am so happy that I am getting to work with them.  I will let you know when things are up online.

004Yes, laxers can do crow pose Smile

I also fell in love last week.  With this:

006

Do you know what this is? BASIL ICE CREAM!  I know what you’re thinking- how can that possibly be good? But I swear to you- it is AMAZING!  Nurse Leicht and I went to Woodberry Kitchen on Friday night and as always, we were not disappointed.

007

And since I was so inquisitive about how you can even possibly make basil flavored ice cream, I got to meet the pastry chef himself!

008

Very Exciting.  If you have yet to go to Woodberry- you HAVE to go!  They’re always very packed so you make a reservation 4 weeks in advance.  I’m not joking.  If you don’t know about Woodberry- here’s some info from their website:

From Farm to Table

Woodberry Kitchen features the seasonal best from local growers and emphasizes organic meats and sustainable agriculture.  Our goal is to nourish and delight our guests with cooking grounded in the traditions of the Chesapeake region.

Did I mention the Chris and I walked away a pint of basil ice cream…for free?  I must be a special lady.

The hardest thing about saying yes to the universe is that it means accepting everything life puts in front of us…When we affirm this, we enter into a state of trust that whatever our situation is, we can work with it…We express confidence in ourselves and the universe, we also express a willingness to learn from whatever comes our way, rather than running and hiding when we do not like what we see…The first step to saying yes is realizing that in the end it is so much easier than the alternative.  Once we understand this, we can begin examining the moments when we resist what is happening and experiment with occasionally yielding instead.  It might be scary at first, and even painful at times, but if we continue to say yes to every moment through the process, we will discover the joy of being in a positive conversation with a force much bigger than ourselves. ~Madisyn Taylor

Whirlwind

19 Aug

001Hi! How was your Thursday?? Mine was super busy and I am glad tomorrow is FRIDAY!!  It was kind of a whirlwind over here- taught three classes, went to Trader Joe’s, picked up some Inside Lacrosse Magazine’s(!!!), and tried to check off the to-do’s! What are your weekend plans? I will be indulging in yoga and spending time with friends in VA.  Very exciting.

Can you believe coming up that September is almost here? I feel like the days are flying by and plans for only a few weeks from now are already in the works! But-

(source)

or you can

(source)

Maybe you should do the yoga first.  Smile

So- I picked up a few Inside Lacrosse Magazine’s today.

006

And OH MY look what’s inside!!!

007

Soooo crazy!!!  The magazine is being mailed out today and I did go into Barnes and Noble to check but it probably won’t be out for a few more days.  I’m going to be working with the magazine again next week!

I think these people approve.

003

I love my parents! And they pose for the blog, which obviously I love!

005

We’re cool aren’t we?

002

004

Lovely day in the City of Charm if you ask me.

Even when things are busy and hectic, I still think we can all find time to take a moment, stop, breath, and enjoy being alive!

To live in this single moment, this lightest breath, this softest touch, to be captured by this smallest, this briefest space of time, to be fully present, alive, consumed in this instant alone, this is truly living. ~Jill Pendley

See you tomorrow!!!!

Double Dose

18 Aug

061

Hey hey- how was your Wednesday? Things are pretty good over here! I’ve done tons of laundry, replied to emails, gone to the grocery store, taught yoga…got a lot accomplished and I can tell you right now I am already looking forward to the weekend!  Do you I have any fun plans?

Here’s my second post of the day so you get a double dose of me! Don’t forget to check out my last recap of my beach vacay.  You can see the other ones here and here.

I wanted to talk about something that happened to me yesterday.  I was teaching my usual classes and one of my students told me it was her last class with me as she’s moving to Florida.  This yogini has been one of my dedicated students for a few years now and I know that she loves, loves, yoga.  She told me how much she was going to miss me, the studio, and my classes and friendship and left crying.  While I realized that I had a large impact on her time here- but I just think it is so important to realize that we all have teachers in life

We are all teachers to each other.  Every single encounter we have another person affects them in some way.  Some people come and go in out lives, but some stay forever.  As cheesy as it sounds, it’s true.  And all the things that happen to us, the easy things, the hard things, the things that make us happy and the things that make us sad; teach us a lesson about how to be our real selves and how to live our lives.

(source)

We are so busy rushing around with our schedules, work, plans, doing our normal routines, that we don’t take the time to really value the connections we make with other people.  Seeing my student sad to leave just made me realize the impact we have on other people, even when we don’t realize how strong it may be.  Take some time and think about who inspires you and who you inspire.  You may be surprised!

Do what makes you happy.  Be with who makes you smile.  Laugh as much as you breathe.  LOVE as long as you live. ~Unknown

Ok- enough of my inspiration! But guess what!? The newest Inside Lacrosse Magazine came out and I’m in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I’m getting some copies tomorrow and I will post some pictures!  So crazy and so exciting!!!

Here’s another recipe for you!

Back to the grind

17 Aug

071Hi friends! Things have been crazzzzyyyyy since coming back from vacation! Last week was the first time I had days off without teaching yoga in months.  Months! So you can imagine coming back and teaching 3 classes a day was- well a bit of a struggle!

This is me- freezing in the pouring rain with wet feet in Philly! Gah! I was grumpy despite my large smile!

The beach was amazing and I loved every second of it! I also turned 29!!!!!

052

So I have to share with you the VEGAN PIZZA that I made!

067

SO FREAKING GOOD!

066

Now I know you may be skeptical, but it was delicious!

Here’s what you need:

1 package of Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free pizza dough (found at whole foods)

1 package of Follow Your Heart Vegan Mozzarella Cheese (also found at whole foods)

Your choice of tomato sauce

Pesto- I made my own with fresh basil leaves (rinsed), olive oil, garlic, dash of salt and pepper, and the veg mozz cheese listed above. Blend in a blender or food processor till everything is smooth

Other toppings of whatever you want! I used Tofurkey’s veggie Italian sausage, fresh tomatoes, and marinated artichoke hearts.

This is very simple and easy to make.  Follow the directions on the back of the dough mix.  To make it vegan, you have to use flax seed meal instead of eggs.

Once the dough is cooked- add your toppings and bake again according to the directions on the package.

The pizzas I made were pesto, sausage and mozzarella and the second one was with a roasted red pepper sauce, artichoke hearts, fresh tomatoes, sausage, and the cheese.  Like I said, ALL VEGAN and soooo good!

057

This was vegan too- and it wasn’t mine…but I had a few bites.  Lol

Life’s always good when you’re at the beach right?

My life is like a stroll on the beach…as near to the edge as I can go. ~Thoreau

I’m hoping to post again tonight with another recipe and some inspiration.  But for now, back to the endless mound of laundry!

I hope you’re having a great week!!!

Family Ties

10 Aug

015

Hey y’all! How’s your week unfolding?

I have been having a TON of family bonding time as you can imagine.  I actually feel relaxed and totally stress free! Yay! I love that feeling and well- I can’t remember the last time I felt this way.   But I have eaten too much ice cream.  Ugh.

I’ve gotten 8 undisturbed hours of sleep a night, sat on the beach, read To Kill A Mockingbird, watched people stand up and paddle, laughed at other families, laughed at my own family, and enjoyed every second of it

008

Life is good!!!!

When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses. ~Dr. Joyce Brothers

016 For most people, family is a  big part of life.  Sometimes we don’t want it to be, but it just is.

010 I am at the beach with my parents, my twin sister, my aunt and uncle (my dad’s brother), my cousin (their daughter), and her children.

006 Even though my aunt and uncle live in Indiana and my cousin, her husband and the kids, live in NYC, we all have so many similarities!

021  I’m more like my mother than I’d like to admit, and my sister is a lot like my dad when she’s having a stubborn moment.

007

I look just like these two- look at the nose and mouth.

002

017

Look at the children; aren’t they precious?!

Ok my mom just told me this:

Family- the ties that bind…and gag. ~Erma Bombeck

Bahahahaha

Once when I was in the car with my mother- now I should say I don’t always agree with her driving- I tweeted about her driving skills- and one of my followers wrote back saying that the being with the family is like doing the 7th series of ashtanga.  Lol Just meaning that sometimes it can be difficult and you have to BREATHE to get through it!

 007

005

The family.  We were s strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s diseases, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing it to heal in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us together. ~Erma Bombeck

You can feel the love right? Smile

Away we go!

003To the beach that is!

Hi Friends! Are you so happy the weekend is here??? I am!

I am going to Lewes Delaware for a whole week with the family.  A lot of people have never heard of Lewes before, but it’s a lovely little town at the end of the row of beaches in Delaware.  The fam and I have been going there pretty much since Morgan and I came into existence.  And now it’s turned into an extended family vacation.

004 Here’s my driver!

Yesterday I indulged in a pedi with my girl Nurse Leicht.

002 001

I’d say I’m beach ready Smile

I cannot wait to just have  time to relax, unwind, and be in the salt water! I absolutely love the ocean and even though it will probably be packed with tons of families, we will be one of them!

We also all are bringing our yoga mats- Mace included- so we’ll all be rolling out our islands.  I haven’t actually done yoga in weeks because of my foot injuries but I’ve been wearing clunky sneakers for days now so I am hoping I can be pain free! I neeeeeeed my yoga!

So- we drove across the Bay Bride

005006007

and after getting slightly lost- we ended up having a family breakfast with my aunt and uncle.

013 Jimmy’s is a restaurant on the way to the eastern shore that has true home cooking.  I mean look at these pies- freshly made!

012009008

So if you look closely, my dad, my uncle and I- well, we look alike in the face!

011

I make my dad pose a lot.  Smile

And surprisingly-

010

Morgan wasn’t ready for her close up.  Shocking!

015

014

Back on the road!

And then we finally arrived!

019

Gorgeous.

Friends, friends, 123

5 Aug

Hey there! How’s everyone’s week been? Things have been pretty bueno over here.  I am getting ready to go to the beach for a week with the family and I cannot wait.  I have not gone on vacation in a forever!  We go to Delaware to a beach that I have gone to pretty much every year growing up.  I’m very excited.  And I will get to see this guy:

026

And this guy:

501

This is Mace(that’s not his real name of course Smile) and we have know each other since I was 14 at Unitarian Church camp!  This pic is from last year on his 30th birthday and he will be with me on my 29th. We have known each other for so long and I am just really looking forward to spending time together.

So freaking excited.  Yay!

Annnnyyyways- I spent last weekend doing a lot of this:

001

with these two people Smile

015 017

I must say- I love my friends!

023

And since I’m such a good friend-I’ve been helping my girl Chris Leicht organize her entire apartment! I love to clean!

862Here’s Chris at one of our yoga retreats.

I think I may start my own organization business.  Is your closet a wreck? I will help you.  But you have to be ready to part with the clutter!

005001002004

003

Yes we had some wine while organizing her entire living room, kitchen, and massive hallway closet- all while sweating profusely.

I love being organized.  Honestly- I used to be extremely messy.  Anyone who knows me knows that my room used to be a wreck.  Growing up, you couldn’t even see the floor and I used to just throw the clothes and everything else on the floor.  I know that’s so bad, but within the last six months I have become a total neat freak.  I love giving away things I don’t use to friends, to goodwill, to whoever, and having things in order.  Use what you have and get rid of what you don’t! Honestly, it feels soooooo good.

I will post some after pics when everything is neat and tidy but I am sooo proud of her for getting of rid of things! Clutter is not good for anyone!

**Something to talk about**

So I really don’t like to get into too many touchy subjects here on the blog, but I’ve talked about  my goals before and one of them is to be authentic in everything I do.  That includes, my work as a yoga teacher, with my friends, family, and anyone I encounter in my life.

One of the things that I truly pride myself on is BEING MYSELF.  Funny, quirky, kind, loving…and as a yoga teacher, I love to bring those qualities to students in my class.  I play the music that moves me, teach the poses that I love, and show my students that they are strong and capable of achieving whatever it is that they want.  On their yoga mat and off.

Many people love yoga and once they become a teacher and step into that teacher role it’s like they become something else.  They try too hard to be that  idea of a yoga teacher when really  they are already perfect when they are just themselves! Yoga teaches me to go with the flow and that’s one of the reasons why I love teaching a flowing vinyasa yoga class.  We just go with what life throws at you!

I bring this up because I met a teacher from another studio this week who told me that one of the reasons he loved my class was because it was fun and I was myself. Who else would I be??? I love what I do and life is fun and exciting so why try to make it something else?

Just thought I’d share my thoughts!

005 Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.  ~Judy Garland

I hope you’ve had an amazing week!

xoxo, C
