Super fail

9 May cccy

cccyHi hi hiiiii- how are we?  I have been busy as I don’t know what.  So clearly- my challenge was a complete fail.  I will not be trying to do one of those again.  But I know so many of you keep checking my page and tell me you love it so- here I am!

I have been extremely busy with work- teaching and teacher training- and basically just trying to stay organized!

But on a positive note- I am teaching HIP HOP YOGA this Saturday May 12 at Charm City Yoga Midtown.  It’s a two hour class and if there are songs you want me to add to the play list let me know!!

Also- big news- my next international YOGA VACAY RETREAT is planned and set in stone.  I sooooo want you to come!

nic retreat pic

I know you may think it’s $$$-  but make sure you ready the flyer so you can see all the details of what is included and it’s not until January!  So you can start saving.  I am also accepting credit cards this year! Make sure you also check out Rancho Santana and see how amazing it is!  I have several friends who have been and they LOVED every second of it.  Seven days and nights of yoga, surfing, horseback riding, relaxing, hiking, and living it up.  A great way to start the new year!

__________________________________________________

So one of the reasons I created this blog was to let all of you know what my life is like, what I’m doing, what yoga classes and retreats or events I teach and all of that.  I picked the name Camiekarma because I used to desperately want my nickname to be Camie.  No one really ever called me that and I just liked the way it sounded. In college my bff and freshman year roommate was Camie.  Our room was called the Camie room.

063

Very fitting I think (Hi Cam!).  Anyways- when I first became a yoga teacher- Camiekarma seemed like a good fit.  According to Dictionary.com karma means:

action, seen as bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad, either in this life or in a reincarnation

So in essence, I would like to inspire, ignite, and motivate you to live the life you want to live.  But the truth is blogging is a lot of work.  And a lot of the time- I feel like my life isn’t exciting and any different than any of yours.  I drink my own home made iced coffee (I’m trying to go back to decaf.  Ugh) with coconut milk, I make smoothies, I let the dishes pile up, I hate folding laundry,  I take a lot of cat pictures (as you know), I do yoga in my living room, I like to drink wine, I watch too many of the real housewives…the list can go on and on.

I just want to say THANK YOU for being dedicated to me and thank you for reading!!!

Day 6

21 Apr

007Today is Friday.  My day did not go as planned.  I don’t know about you, but I really hate when that happens.  Like, a lot.  Even though I’m a yoga teacher, I struggle just like everyone else to let go and move on- especially when something has upset me.  I like to plan and I like to know what’s happening at all times (although the state of my bedroom with a pile of unfolded laundry may suggest otherwise.)  It wasn’t smooth sailing, but, TGIF after all.

cm1Almost all of you know I’m close with my family.  I have one sister who is my twin and parents that have been together for over 40 years.  We are very close.  I’d say more than close.  As much as I don’t like to admit it all the time, my mother and I talk on the phone everyday…more than once a day.  Same with my sister.  We laugh about ridiculous inside jokes that no one gets, talk about our love lives, if we’re going to zumba or getting a manicure- all the things that sisters and close friends would talk about.  (And I also think we were very cute children lol).

I’ve posted many times about my family with pictures, cmomholiday dinners, birthdays, etc and I really realized today that your family is always there for you no matter what.   No matter who is right or wrong or what you did or didn’t do- they will always love you and care about you and try to make you feel better.  My parents have been in Colorado for the last week and this was totally validated when I opened my mailbox and found this postcard in my mailbox.  My mother knows all too well that I don’t get any mail with the exception of my BGE bill.  And even though I’ve talked to her every single day since they’ve been away- it still made my afternoon getting the postcard.

life

I was watching the Ellen show today and she had the producer of Happy- a documentary (I tried to get the link but it wasn’t working) on her show.  He talked about living simply and authentically- life is about family and community.  Having friends and family around you who love you.  While this seems simple, we often forget those things as we want more material possessions, have more money, want everything that’s bigger and better etc.  But being kind and serving others was on the top of the list.  That even being witness to an act of kindness activates a jolt of happiness in our own bodies.  While this may not seem surprising, I think we forget about small acts of kindness in our busy lives.  You can see the video here

mom and dadBe kind. Be loving. Take a deep breath. Make a plan. Put it into action. Be authentic. Take charge of your own reality. And tell your family you love them.

Life is short, exciting, upsetting, chaotic, intense, wonderful, and a full on roller-coaster all at once. Cherish it. Enjoy it. Love it. Every. Single. Moment.

Life is good after all.  Happy Friday!

Day 5

20 Apr

006

Hi my lovelies- so this blogging every day is proving to be difficult!  In all honestly- I’d like to be sipping a glass of wine in front of the tv but sadly that’s not happening. My mind is already on the weekend so I am a bit distracted!  But, here is my post day 5 as promised!

Here’s a recipe for you:

020

Easy and super tasty!

013017

In a frying pan sauté mushrooms and onion.  Add a dash or 2 of olive oil until they’re softened and cooked down.  I added the shrimp towards the end as mine was already pre-cooked.

Add cilantro, soy sauce, dash of lime juice, dash of hot sauce, salt and pepper to taste.  All of these flavors can be over powering so if there is one you like better than the other feel free to use more.

018

While all that is happening, boil a pot of water for your rice noodles.  I can’t remember what brand I used because I had thrown away the bag.  But they’re from Whole Foods in the Asian section and they’re also gluten free!   Super easy to make and once the water is boiled they only need to cook for about 5 minutes.

Combine all together and stir and enjoy!  I added a bit of extra hot sauce for some extra spiciness.  Sooooo good!

019

Yummmmmmmmm!

This post was short and sweet and I am hoping to have a strength training and yoga routine for you to post in the next day or so.

009

Any exciting plans for the weekend?

A massage and mani/pedi is on my list!

Life’s not about expecting, hoping and wishing, it’s about doing, being, and becoming.  It’s about the choices you’ve just made, and the ones you’re about to make, it’s about the things you choose to say- today.  It’s about what you’re gonna do after you finish reading this.  ~Mike Dooley

I’m spending 15 minutes with Katniss and then face planting into bed!

Day 3

18 Apr

Here are the ABC’s of ME

A is for amazing.  That’s how I’d describe my life.

flower

B is for beautiful- the weather was today.

025

C is for Camille- of course.

D is for the first letter of Brad Pitt’s real name.

E is for energy.  I like to have it so sometimes I drink diet coke.  I know it’s bad.

F is for family.

 family

G is for green.  It’s my favorite color and yes this dress will be making it’s appearances again soon.

sisters

H is for happiness.  Sometimes we have to pick and choose to figure out what it is that makes us happy.  Take 5 minutes and write down the first things that come to your mind about what make you happy- spending time with friends, practicing yoga, going on a walk, cooking, sipping bubbly- whatever.  See you if you can do at least 2 of those things on your list this week!

I is for inspiration.  I try to find something that inspires me everyday whether it’s from a conversation with my mom, seeing a blossoming flower, or the lyrics from a song.  Here’s a song to download- Whale  by Yellow Ostrich.

J is for juice.  Yummy green juice.

greenjuice

K is for kindness.  Life can be busy, stressful, and overwhelming but take time to be kind to people you love and even a stranger.  It’s my pet peeve when walk right by you and don’t smile or say good morning because it sure makes my day when they do.

L is for laughter.  You have to laugh every day to really live.

M is for Morgandance

N is for negative nelly.  I say this a lot, we all know who these types of naysayers are!  You don’t want to be one!  That’s all I’m going to say about that.

O is for open.  In yoga we work to stretch and lengthen and physically open parts our bodies (hips and shoulders especially) because these are places where we hold so much tension! Are you holding onto something?  What can you do to open up a little bit?  And this openness isn’t just something physical- we all know that we can hold onto things in our minds and turn it over and over again.

P is for Presley! 023

Q if for quiltYes this is random, but I am determined to make one out of all of these old t-shirts that my dad brought M and I back from his aquarium collecting trips during our childhood.  Mom if you are reading this- I will use my sewing machine that is currently collecting dust.  Lol

R is for reading.  Currently, I am on book two of The Hunger Games; Catching Fire.  I’m almost finished and if you haven’t read The Hunger Games I HIGHLY recommend it!

S is for smiling.  It’s one of my favorite things, just like this guy.

(source)

T is for time.  Life is short and you only have one so make every second count.

U is for understanding.

V is for-ok this is another one that stumped me.  I even looked up words online.  But then I came back to my original though.  V is for Violet.  Violet Beauregard.

“Violet’s turning violet!” Yes, hilarious.  Lol (picture source)

W is for wine.  Yes another one of my indulgences…sometimes.  Hehehe Smile

 wine2

X is for- ok all I can think of is xylophone probably from my days at working at a preschool and holding up flashcards with pictures.  Anddddd I just found one.  Lol

(source)

Y is for YES!  Sometimes you just have to say yes and go with the flow.

Z is for zest.  How can you put some zest in your life?  And I don’t mean the soap

Happy Tuesday!

Day 2

17 Apr

csmile2

Hi!  Happy Monday!  Here I am with another post from my challenge.  I will keep up with this.  I’  hope you had a great Monday.  I was definitely someone who can easily have a case of the Mondays- but it helps when I lay out my to do list the night before so I already have what I need to do in my head.

001

I made it to the gym…TWICE!  That wasn’t intended, but I am nursing a funky shoulder thing so my own yoga practice was replaced by my own toned down zumba class.  I wasn’t going to go, but my sis and friend Katie were going and I couldn’t resist.  But- I don’t jump or do any crazy arm things so- hopefully I won’t hurt tomorrow.  I just love my zumba teacher- she’s amazing!

003

Most of you know I have been going gluten free, dairy free (most of the time!), soy free and since I teach yoga classes at different places at different times every day it helps SO much when I have things packed.  I ended up going to the grocery store to make sure I have some essentials that I can pack and eat on the go.

005

Hummus, carrot sticks, celery, spring mix, apples, blackberries, gluten free crackers, seaweed snacks…yum.  It makes it easy to throw together a side salad or snack or carrots and celery sticks with hummus.

002

I also picked up some art journal supplies at tarjayyyyyyy.  Let me tell you, these things made my day.  It was a good think I didn’t go into a craft store because I would have come out with one of everything.  And yes- those are glitter glue sticks.

livethelife

One of the entries I did last night was from this website and it was to journal your favorite mantra in different handwritings and colors over and over.  I also posted it on instagram and now I’ve just been thinking about it all day.

Do you have a favorite mantra or affirmation?

Sometimes I write things on sticky notes and post them on my bathroom mirror.  It may be cheesy but it helps!  And currently I think the only person who has seen that list is Brad Pitt.

004I hope you stayed cool today (it was in the 90’s here in charm city) and well- my ac is not on!  But the fan is blowing, I’m sipping my sparkling water, and watching Bethenney

**If you come to my yoga class you hear me talk about your toes being relaxed- I don’t know what’s going on here!**

I hope you all had an amazing Monday!!  See you tomorrow!!

If there’s anything you’d like me to post about please let me know (responses to articles, types of food, yoga clothes, music, yoga sequences, etc)

I’ve learned that you cannot make someone love you.  All you can do is be someone who can be loved.  The rest is up to them.  I’ve learned that no matter how much I care some people just don’t care back.  I’ve learned that just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have.  I’ve learned that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.  I’ve learned that it’s not what you have in your life, but whom you have in your life that counts.  I’ve learned that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.  I’ve learned that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.  I’ve learned that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I’ve learned that sometimes when I’m angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn’t give me the right to be cruel.  I’ve learned that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you’ve had and what you’ve learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated.  I’ve learned that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.  I’ve learned that no matter how good a friend is, they’re going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.  I’ve learned that it isn’t always enough to be forgiven by others.  Sometimes you have to   to forgive yourself.  I’ve learned that just because two people argue, it doesn’t mean they don’t love each other. And, just because they don’t argue, it doesn’t mean they do.  I’ve learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn’t stop for your grief.  I’ve learned that no matter how you try to protect your children, they will eventually get hurt, and you will hurt in the process.  I’ve learned that you should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would be if they believed it.  I’ve learned that heroes are people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I’ve learned that you can keep going long after you can’t. (source)

Challenge- Day 1

15 Apr

I know you’ve been wondering where I’ve been.  And it was actually one of my goals to be blogging consistently three times a week and well- the clearly hasn’t been happening.  So I’ve decided to create a challenge for myself to blog every day for 30 days.  Today is day 1.

Are you having a fun weekend????  I’ve been working and in between that sleeping and playing with this guy.

p1

After a traumatizing trip to the vet- Presley is no longer gnawing away at all of his fur…too much.  Who knew that cats needed to be wheat free too?  I’ve changed his diet and now he takes Rescue Remedy as well and it’s actually working.  The people at the pet store Bark really helped me.

I celebrated Easter dinner…and ate way too much.

Clearly we all love to smile.

Celebrated my Dad’s birthday

And I did teach Yoga After Dark which was a HUGE success!  I am so grateful to everyone who showed up and hopefully I will be teaching another one in the summer/fall.  If you missed it- I would love for you to be there next time!!

I am teaching Hip Hop Yoga again at Charm City Yoga Midtown on Saturday May 12.  Click here for all the information.

015I’ve been working a ton lately, working out, yogaing, and spending time with my Brad Pitt and just like everyone else it’s hard to find balance and stay inspired to be on top of your goals.  I started creating my own art journal.  I’m typically not one for journaling-I’ve started one here and there, written a few pages, and then that’s the end of that.  So I took an empty journal, rummaged through some magazines before I tossed them into the recycling and here’s what I came up with so far.

017016

I don’t know what it will turn into but I’ve found some websites that have art journal suggestions too that I’ve been looking at.  I like this one and this one.  I’ve also been checking out Elsie’s blog A Beautiful Mess which is full of creative and inspirational ideas.

We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal, and then leap in the dark to our success.  ~Henry David Thoreau

Happy Sunday!  See you tomorrow for Day 2!
